Affecting nearly 20 million Americans, nerve damage can severely impact your quality of life while being extremely painful in the process. In control of basically everything your body does, your nervous system plays a critical role in your well being. Sending messages from your brain and spinal cord to different parts of your body, there are three types of nerves you should be aware. Motor- which controls the voluntary movement of your muscles, sensory which allows you to feel or experience pain, and automatic- which controls organ activities such as eating, breathing and heart functions. And here at Park Physical Therapy, our team of physical therapists in Massapequa know the effects that nerve damage can have on you physically as well as emotionally. Here are some signs and symptoms you should be on the lookout for.
